Product description
- Matte, frosted surface — this is what defines the product
- Translucent film: the outline of the contents shows, the detail does not
- Closure: bottom tape, untaped, press-to-close or slider
- Mono-material 100% polyethylene — closure included
A frosted bag is a polyethylene bag whose surface is matte rather than glossy. The name comes from that appearance: the film is translucent like frosted glass, so the presence and outline of the product inside can be made out while its detail stays indistinct. In DEKA’s other PE bags the surface is a variant you choose between gloss and matte; in this product the matte surface is what defines the bag.
Production
The product is mono-material 100% polyethylene. The film is produced in our own facilities by blown extrusion as a single layer; there is no lamination, no barrier layer, no metallised layer and no non-polyethylene component such as paper, aluminium or polyamide. Flexographic printing is applied in our own facilities and goes up to eight colours. Cutting and sealing are also done in our own facilities. Where a press-to-close or slider closure is required, the closure component is sourced; it is polyethylene too, so the product keeps its mono-material structure.
How it differs from a clear bag
Clear film shows the contents sharply, which suits you when the product itself should be seen. In the frosted bag the film is translucent: you can tell there is a product inside and make out its outline, but not its detail. If the packaging should neither hide the contents nor show them fully, this product sits in between.
Closure options
The bottom of the bag can be supplied taped or untaped. Beyond that, press-to-close or slider closures can be made. A press-to-close seal is closed by pressing the seal together with the fingers; a slider closure has a separate slider part. We also make both mechanisms as products in their own right — ziplock bags and zipper bags.
Variants
A side or bottom gusset and a hang hole can be added. Printing goes up to eight colours; the bag is also produced unprinted.
Material and compliance
The product can be made to two formulations and they exclude one another. For food-contact work only virgin polymer is used and production is carried out under our declaration of compliance. Where recycled content is required, recycled polyethylene can be used at the requested share; that variant is for non-food use.
If you ship into the EU, this product falls within the scope of our declaration of material composition; you can find which documents you may request on our PPWR compliance page.

Frequently asked questions
How is it different from a clear bag?
Clear film shows the contents sharply. The film of the frosted bag is translucent: you can tell there is a product inside and make out its outline, but not its detail. The difference comes from the surface being matte.
How does the bag close?
There are several options. The bottom of the bag can be supplied taped or untaped, and press-to-close or slider closures can also be made. Tell us how the product will be filled and presented and we will settle the right one together.
What is the difference between the press-to-close and slider options?
A press-to-close seal is closed by pressing the seal together with the fingers. A slider closure has a separate slider part and the bag is closed with it. We also make both mechanisms as products in their own right: ziplock bags and zipper bags.
What dimensions and gauge do you produce?
Dimensions and gauge are set per order. Tell us the weight and size of what is packed and how the bag will be used, and we will settle the specification together.
Can it be printed?
Yes, flexographic printing goes up to eight colours. The print area and layout are planned per order; the bag is also produced unprinted.
Can it be used for food-contact products?
Yes, food-contact production is available on request. In that case production is carried out under our declaration of compliance and only virgin polymer is used.
